Frequently asked questions
How do voters sign in?
With the voter ID on your register (for example a student or member ID) and a 6-digit PIN that EzzVote generates. You send each voter their PIN by SMS, email or a printed slip.
Can someone vote twice?
No. Each voter ID is marked as voted in the same database transaction that records the ballot. A second attempt, from any device, is refused.
Can the admin see who I voted for?
No. Ballots are stored separately from the voter register and carry no voter ID. Admins see who has voted, never how.
What happens if polls must stay open longer?
The electoral officer can extend the closing time from the polling time page. Voters see the new countdown straight away.
What if a voter loses their PIN?
The admin can issue a new PIN for that voter as long as they have not voted. The old PIN stops working.
Can anyone vote without being on a register?
Yes, if the organiser turns on open voting. Anyone with the link can vote, as many times as the organiser allows. It suits awards, pageants and popularity contests; binding elections should use a register with PINs.
Do voters need to install an app?
No. EzzVote works in any modern phone or computer browser.
When can people see results?
You choose per election: live while voting is open, only after polls close, or admins only.
